6th Grade Camp

May 13 - 15, 2024

YMCA Camp Seymour

9725 Cramer Rd NW,

Gig Harbor, WA 98329

We are pleased to share that, due to a generous grant awarded to both of the Intermediate schools by Outdoor Schools Washington, all 6th grade students in University Place School District will be able to attend Camp Seymour free of charge for the 2023-2024 school year.

Although there will no longer be a charge for camp this year, we will still need your student to turn in their registration forms to participate. Please inform the office or your student’s teacher if you do not plan on having them attend Camp Seymour. A camp packet with more details will be sent home with students sometime in March.

As we strive to provide equitable opportunities and access for our students, we are thrilled to offer this experience at no cost to families. Time spent together in the camp setting is also a great benefit to the social and emotional development of our students, especially as we seek to recover from the impacts of the pandemic. We are humbled by the generosity of this gift and confident that our students will have an exceptional camp experience.

CAMP PACKING LIST

To ensure that every article is returned to its owner, please mark all clothing, sleeping bags, etc., with your child's name. We cannot be responsible for unmarked items. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS ADEQUATE RAIN GEAR. CAMP SEYMOUR CLASSES GO ON RAIN OR SHINE. Please also note that students will carry their own gear over hilly and unpaved land. The hike takes about ten to fifteen minutes. Easy to carry luggage such as backpacks and rolling luggage are recommended. We also ask for your cooperation in checking to see that candy, gum, cell phones, and electronics are not included in your child's luggage. No medication(s), supplements, or vitamins may be present in any student’s luggage at any point.

If your family needs support with purchasing supplies for camp, please notify Mrs. Bishop (Counselor for last names A-K) or Mrs. Haywood (counselor for last names L-Z) right away as there are resources available to help families in need.

LUNCH Monday: Your child will need a sack lunch for the first day of camp. You may send a sack lunch or you may charge the sack lunch to your child’s lunch account. Please be sure you marked the plan for Monday’s sack lunch on the FIELD TRIP PARENT CONSENT FORM.
